History

The OHIO YAB was established in 2006, and our history continues being written, year by year.

Here’s a link to the first version of the Foster Youth Rights Handbook.

Here’s a link to a video celebrating ten years of accomplishments by the Overcoming Hurdles in Ohio (OHIO YAB) Youth Advisory Board.

Ohio foster care youth and alumni created two videos to encourage community members to become foster parents for teens and/or host homes for young adults. Marissa Alcorn and her chosen family shared how foster care brought them together. Jewel Harris shared a detailed look at why foster homes for teens matter, and what teens need from foster homes.

We also created a video to remember a young person who we lost.

Make sure to read through the 2016 Foster Youth Rights Handbook created by youth for youth.
